Rick Scott is backing up his campaign promises to make public education one of the focuses of his agenda. His plans are centered on implementing the business principles of choice and accountability into the school system. One of the major planks in his education platform is to give parents the choice of where to send there children, not forcing them to attend a zoned school.

The 11 approved districts are Alachua, Calhoun, Clay, DeSoto, Gulf, Hendry, Holmes, Manatee, Pasco, Putnam, and Washington

January is "School Choice" month in Florida

 

On January 22 state education leaders will host an expo at the Florida State Fairgrounds to demonstrate the variety of choices currently available to parents including public charters, virtual education, home schooling, and private school scholarships.
